 Coach Ritchie McKay begins his third season and the frontcourt is back. The New Mexico Lobos have a very good front line with 6'-8' senior Danny Granger (19.5 ppg, 49% FGs, 9 rpg) and 6'-9', 240-lb junior David Chiotti (12.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg). The backcourt lost Javin Tindall, but has good depth with 6'-3' junior Troy DeVries (3 assists pg) and junior Mark Walters (5 ppg).
They have good depth up front with 6'-5' senior Al Neale (8.8 ppg, 5 rpg) and 6'-8', 250-lb sophomore Justin Benson. Last season, they blasted rival New Mexico State 65-49, allowing 38% shooting, as Granger had 22 points, 16 rebounds. And Granger had 19 points, 12 rebounds in a 70-61 loss at Wake Forest. They could be better, but they have been a very different team at home than on the road, so examine their home/road play carefully.
