What the Louisville Cardinals really need is depth. Reginald Delk, Jared Swopshire, and George Goode, all averaged six or fewer minutes a game last year, and will have to compete with the newcomers for important minutes off the bench. Both 6-8 forwards, Swopshire and Goode were only freshmen last year, and should be able to shoulder a heavier load this season, but if not, the Cardinals will be looking to a few unproven freshmen to provide the needed depth in the frontcourt. While having a natural point guard in Siva is a very positive factor for Louisville, he is a freshman and may need a bit of time to adjust to the tough conference play of the Big East. If Siva can live up to expectations, the Cardinals have the ability to compete with anybody in their conference. If not, Pitino will have to rely on seniors Sosa and Smith to assist in hold this young squad together. Freedom Hall in Louisville is always a great place to be during the college basketball season, and fans can always rely on the team to perform at a high level when battling all of other great Big East schools. UL will not only be a factor in the conference, but undoubtedly in the NCAA Tournament in March as well, so get your tickets now and follow the Louisville Cardinals all the way through the season.
