Background - Eastern Michigan Eagles
The Eastern Michigan Eagles have a very good frontcourt in 6'-6' senior Markus Austin (13 points per game), 6'-9' senior James (Boo) Jackson (10 ppg, 8 rpg), and 6'-8', 255-lb junior John Bowler (13 ppg, 8 rpg). Throw in 6'-7', 240-lb center James Matthews, a big body transfer from Marquette, and the frontcourt appears very strong.

 The backcourt will be interesting, with 5'-10' senior PG Mike Ross (7 ppg, 3 apg), who led the team in assists for the second straight season. And their big signee is freshman 6'-4' Darryl Garrett, Detroit's Public School League Player of the Year. Free throw shooting was a major weakness on this team, shooting 65% as a team from the line. You need to hit the freebies in close games to take the next step up.
Can they win away from home? E-Michigan was 8-5 SU/4-4 ATS at home, 5-10 SU/6-9 ATS on the road. They certainly have the height to be better defensively, but they have to show it on the court. With so much experience and height, this looks like one of the more improved teams in the MAC and they may be an early-season surprise.
