Chris Daughtry
Chris Daughtry rose to fame after he took part in the fifth season of American Idol. He was placed in the first four finalist and was finally eliminated. Nevertheless, he also formed a rock band Daughtry, in the year 2006. A notable American rock singer and songwriter and a guitarist, he released his self-titled debut album in the same year and just after his elimination from the American Idol, his albums sold for more that 1 million copies, just withing few weeks of his departure. The album was a smashing hit and became the fastest-selling debut rock album in the history of Soundscan. The album even left behind the debut albums of his fellow other 5 contestants. The album reached number 1 on the Billboard charts, just after its ninth week of release. Though he was neither the winner or runner-up, still at present he is one of the best-selling Idol contestant. He was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and was brought up in Charlottesville, Virginia, and afterwards his parents moved to McLeansville outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. He grew up listening to popular rock artists such as Richard Marx and Rob Thomas. When he was 16 years old, he decided to make singing his career. In high school, he used to perform with other rock bands. In 1998, he finished his graduation at Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra, Virginia. In the year 2005, he gave audition for the CBS singing contest, Rock Star: INXS, but was not successful. But this didn't deter him. He formed his own rock band in Burlington and became the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the band.

He auditioned for American Idol in Denver, Colorado with The Boxtops' "The Letter". His performance of Fuel's "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" was critically acclaimed by all the three judges. His performance also landed him with the opportunity of becoming the new lead singer of Fuel, but later he declined the offer. While performing in group on American Idol, he played the guitar. In the finale of American Idol, he performed the song "Mystery" with the band Live, at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. He also appeared on The Tonight Show, Total Request Live, and The Today Show. In addition, he also appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performing his track "Wanted Dead or Alive", that he performed on the American Idol Season Five: Encores CD. After his particiaption in American Idol, his track record has been soaring high and has become a celebrity over night. In the year 2006, he charted #43 on the Billboard Hot 100, being named the Hot Shot Debut of the week. He also made a cameo appearance on the MTV Movie Awards, in the year 2006, performing a parody of Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" along with comedian Jimmy Fallon. He also made a cameo appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the "Father's Day Gift Ideas". He has also signed up with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records, and released his debut album "Chris Daughtry" on November. The album reached number one in Billboard Charts.
