Cartersville is a city that is located in Bartow County, Georgia, in the United States.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 23.5square miles (60.9km²), of which, 23.4square miles (60.6km²) of it is land and 0.1square miles (0.3km²) of it (0.51%) is water.

Population Factor

According to the census that was held in the year 2000, “there were 15,925 people, 5,870 households, and 4,132 families residing in the city. The population density was 680.7 people per square mile (262.9/km²). There were 6,130 housing units at an average density of 262.0/sq mi (101.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 76.53% White, 17.04% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.76% from other races, and 1.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 7.28% of the population.

There were 5,870 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.6% were married couples living together, 13.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% were non-families. 25.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males.”
