Cape Girardeau Information: Tickets, Venues, Events and More

The city of Cape Girardeau is located in Missouri and 185 km south of Saint Louis As per the 2000 census, the city had a population of 35,349. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 26.4 sq.mi (16,875 acres or 68.4 km²).

The first settlement was founded in the city in 1793, at the present day Cape Rock Park sits, when Don Louis Lorimier was given a land grant by the Spanish government. It was officially incorporated in the year 1808, which was reincorporated 1843. The city celebrated its 200th year in 2006. Cape Girardeau is now better known as a regional hub shopping, health care, dining, and education. It has a variety of attractions, that offer an array of things to do while in the city.

Famous tourist attractions of the city include, Chain Saw Carvings, Historic Fort D and Trail of Tears State Park Interpretive Center. Cape Girardeau hosts a number of events annually, such as the Annual Show Me Center Indoor Rodeo, Missouri Gun and Knife Show, Louis J.
