Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr popularly known as Busta Rhymes is one of the most popular American hip-hop singer and actor. This versatile performer was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 20, 1972. Even though he was born in USA, he is of Jamaican descent. He got the name Busta Rhymes from the legendary artist Chuck D of public enemy fame after he saw him performing. When he was only 12 years old, his family moved to Uniondale in New York. It was here that he befriended other rappers and came across the hip-hop style of music.

Busta Rhymes started his music career when he joined the hip- hop crew leaders of the New School. Together they released an album titled "A Future Without a Past" in 1989. The album became very successful and consequently they became very popular.

After a few years, he started his successful solo career. His debut album as a solo performer titled "The Coming" released in 1996. As the name suggests, the album announced his arrival as a successful artist in the world of music. The album was a beautiful amalgamation of reggae and hip-hop music. The single "Woo Hah! Got You All in Check" became very popular with the listeners and topped both the UK and US charts. His second album "When Disaster Strikes" was an even bigger hit in the US and other countries. The singles "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" and "Dangerous" made a place in the hearts of the audiences. The single "Turn it up/fire it up" went as high as No 2 on the UK charts. Like the previous albums, this album also went on to become a platinum seller. The album reached the top of the Billboard's Top Hip Hop / R&B albums. The single "Gimme Some More" was an instant hit and it topped the charts and reached No.5 in the UK singles chart. Rhymes's success further increased with the hit single "What's It Gonna Be?!" featuring the legendary singer Janet Jackson.
