Artist Biography - Britney Spears
Britney Spears was born with the full name Britney Jeau Spears on December 2, 1981. Believe it or not, she is estimated to be worth over $50 million! She started off singing everywhere in her hometown of Kentwood, LA. Her family was willing to do whatever it took to make their daughter a star. At the mere age of 8, Britney auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club. She was not offered a job, however, due to her young age but then the wheels of motion for future stardom had begun. The producers of the show set her up with a New York based attorney/agent. It was not long before Britney was performing Off-Broadway shows making approximately $1,500 a week.
Soon after, she was performing on the Mickey Mouse Club with fellow future superstars Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.

 However, the Mickey Mouse Club was soon cancelled. Britney was back at home and trying to be once again a normal child. At the age of 15, Britney headed back to New York to try to score a record contract. When she arrived at Jive Records, she could do no wrong, and Britney was signed on the spot. For approximately the next 2 years, Britney worked on her album and promoting herself as much as possible. She even was touring malls across the country before finally hitting it big.
She hit it big after her first single, 'Baby One More Time' single and subsequent
video was released. Her immediate impact was huge but sparked with controversy. In the entertainment industry, controversy is an ally. Britney's album immediately shot to the top of the charts. Britney was the first female artist ever to have a number #1 single and album simultaneously. She soon was the opening act for another huge teen sensation, N'Sync.
