Evander Holyfield was born in the city of Atmore; Alabama on October 19 in the year1962. His family migrated to the city of Atlanta in the year 1966. Holyfield started boxing at age 8 and went on to win the Boys Club boxing tournament. At the early age of 11, he easily qualified to compete in his very first Junior Olympics. By the time he was 16 years old Holyfield weighed nearly 139 lbs. and soon became the distinguished Southeastern Regional Champion, successfully winning this tournament and even the coveted Best Boxer Award. Then when he was just 19 years old, Holyfield successfully represented the U.S. in the prestigious Pan American Games which was held in Caracas, Venezuela. He won a silver medal and a made a lasting impact on the crowd. The very next year, he managed to become National Golden Gloves Champion, and went on to win a bronze medal at the 1984 Olympic Games.

Holyfield initially debuted as a professional boxer in the November 1984. In his nationally televised match; he won in six rounds over the powerful Lionel Byarm.
He soon began stepping up in class and soon achieved remarkable success. He beat Eric Winbush in the year 1985.He began 1986 with a superb knockout in three over the talented former world Cruiserweight challenger; the great Chisanda Mutti. Holyfield soon became world Cruiserweight champion by defeating Qawi. His very first fight as a Heavyweight actually took place on July 16, when he managed to beat former Tyson rival the reputed James Quick Tillis by knockout. Holyfield quickly became the undisputed Heavyweight champion during the 90's when he knocked Douglas (who had defeated Tyson earlier) out in three rounds. In the year 1996, Holyfield and Tyson finally met. Tyson was quite heavily favored to win, but the remarkable Holyfield made history defeating Tyson. At the late age of 42, Holyfield returned bravely to the ring to face Larry Donald in the year 2004. Holyfield managed to defeat Jeremy Bates recently Holyfield easily dominated the entire fight. Currently, he has an impressive record of 39 fabulous wins, only 8 losses and 2 draws. He is also credited with 26 wins by knockout.
