A Trump Wedding

Tragedy strikes while setting up for Madonna’s “Sticky and Sweet” concert in Marseille France. While erecting the stage for Madonna’s performance it somehow collapsed and killed a 53 year old French man and injured six other people with two of those people receiving serious injuries. At this point it is unknown what exactly caused the accident. The show which was scheduled for this Sunday has been cancelled. Madonna released a statement, “I am devastated to have just received this tragic news. My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news.”

Good news and bad news for some couples. Starting with the good news….Donald Trump’s lovely daughter Ivanka got engaged last night to her boyfriend of two years, Jared Kushner.  Kushner also comes from a wealthy family and is also very ambitious like Ivanka. Jared comes from a Jewish family and Ivanka is taking the steps to convert to Judaism. Ivanka is 27 and Jared is 28 and the two are very happy. Ivanka sent out a twitter last night stating, “I got engaged last night…truly the happiest day of my life!!!” Now the bad news which I know will not come as a huge surprise. Amy Winehouse and her husband of two years have officially split and have been granted a divorce by a judge in London this morning. In the divorce papers Blake Fielder – Civil, Amy’s ex stated that “living with Winehouse was intolerable”. Once can only imagine from the glimpse into her life what that really means. Amy even admitted that she had an affair back in 2008. The woman is just a train wreck, so like I said divorce is always sad but in her case not a big surprise.

It’s Over for Tony and Jessica

Big break up news today. Not exactly the birthday gift she was hoping for …Tony Romo broke up with Jessica Simpson the night before her 29th birthday. It seems that the happy couple has not been happy for awhile. The two have very busy schedules; Tony busy with quarterbacking for the Dallas Cowboys and Jessica working on her new reality show, “The Price of Beauty”. Jessica still loves Tony and is brokenhearted but it just wasn’t meant to be. Jessica sent out a tweet to her fans to let them know she is doing ok and still hopeful about finding love again. She says, “Everyone needs to know that hope floats…grab the strings and pull it back to you.”

In addition to break up news there was also big baby news to share. Molly Ringwald, 41, delivered twins on Friday morning in Los Angeles. A girl named Adele Georgiana and a boy Roman Stylianos. The babies have a big sister Mathilda, 5 ½ waiting at home and ready to help. Ringwald is also playing a mom on TV these days. She is the mother on the ABC Family show, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”. Its weird Molly still looks like she should be the one playing the teenager and not the mom.  Another 41 year old actress who gave birth recently was Mira Sorvino. She gave birth to a baby boy on June 22 also in Los Angeles after a difficult and life threatening pregnancy. Mira spent 9 weeks in the hospital on complete bed rest. She had several complications caused by the pregnancy including placenta previa and she developed a blood clot because she was so inactive while on the complete bed rest. This was not only difficult on her, but Mira and husband Christopher Backus have a 4 year old daughter Mattea and a 3 year old son Johnny, who as you can imagine had never been without their mother for so long. Luckily even after a difficult birth, mother and baby are home and doing fine. New baby boy is named Holden.

Yesterday I shared with you that the new TV show “Parenthood” had been delayed due to undisclosed medical issues for one of its stars, Maura Tierney. Today it was announced that a tumor has been discovered in one of her breasts and she will need to have surgery. Maura says, “I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable condition. I’m very optimistic as to the outcome and want to thank everyone who has sent positive thoughts and support. I look forward to getting back to work soon.”  Good luck Maura, we are some of those well wishers.

Here is some hosting news to share. First off, Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting this year’s Emmy Awards on September 20th. The “How I Met Your Mother Star” says, “I was thrilled to get the call about the Primetime Emmy’s”. My, little “Doogie Howser” has come a long way. Our second host of the hour is Mr. Ryan Seacrest who is going to be the highest paid reality TV host. Seacrest has just made a 3 year deal for “American Idol” which is going to earn him $45 million. That does not even include what he gets for his “E! News” anchor job or his reality TV producer earnings. Not bad for the 34 year old bachelor.

For your musical enjoyment the latest band to pay tribute to Michael Jackson during their concert is Coldplay. They did a rock inspired “Billie Jean”.

Brett Michaels Hurt at the Tony Awards

The Tony Awards were last night and in addition to the excitement of the awards there was also unexpected excitement involving “Rock of Love Star” and Poison band mate, Brett Michaels. He was performing with the cast of “Rock of Ages”, when he missed his mark, and he was hit in the head while some scenery was being moved down from the ceiling area. At first it was thought the hit may have broken his nose but that was not the case. He did make a trip to the ER just to make sure he was fine and thankfully he was; now that was reality TV. It was a big night though for many of the great shows and plays. “Billy Elliot” came out on top as a true shining star winning 10 awards for the night which included, Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actor, Best Choreography, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, plus Best Lighting Design of a Musical and a few other categories. “Hair” won Best Revival of a Musical and “God of Carnage” won Best Play.  Marcia Gay Harden won Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for her performance in “God of Carnage “and Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush won Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play for “Exit the King”. “Shrek the Musical” won for Best Costume Design of a Musical. The amazing Angela Lansbury, who is 83 years old, won a Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for “Blithe Spirit”. This was her 5th Tony Award. It was a fun show with some great musical performances and host Neil Patrick Harris from the show “How I Met Your Mother” did a fine job.

There was some frightening news for the sister of Lisa Ling and her friend who were arrested in N. Korea back in March for illegally crossing the border. The two women, Laura Ling and Euna Lee were sentenced to 12 years hard labor “for the grave crime they committed against the Korean nation.” The US government is working hard to get these 2 woman released but with the very poor relations we have with N. Korea it is very difficult. The families are gravely worried, Euna has a 4 year old daughter and husband in the states and Laura may be suffering from an ulcer that has most likely worsened since these events have occurred.
Exciting news for “American Idol” winner Kris Allen – the 23 year old has signed a record deal with Jive records and you can plan to pick that up sometime this fall. Kris currently has his Idol winning song “No Boundaries” at #23 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles. Not bad Kris! The American Idol summer tour starts in Portland on July 15th and Kris will be there.

NBC is not happy about the allegations that they tortured contestants from the show I’m A Celebrity Get Me out of Here”. Yes, I am referring yet again to Heidi and Spencer who have plans to sue NBC for all that they have been put through. ITV studio, which produces the show, had this to say about the torture allegations, “ITV has been producing this format around the world for many years and the health of the celeb participants are of the utmost importance. A medic and a doctor are present at the location at all times for all participants. All allegations of the celebrities being deprived of food and water are completely untrue”.  Come on people, of course they are untrue. Although perhaps what Speidi maybe have deserved for all their crazy antics…it’s NBC, they would never do anything so inhumane, even for rating. Where does this stuff come from? Crazy, but all the hoopla does make me want to tune in tonight for a good laugh. Forget reality TV I think this one has turned into a good old fashion comedy!
