Bieber is the new Justin

I think Bieber has officially become the new “Justin”. Just go to Google and news search for Justin Bieber.

I find out his views for the single “Baby” have surpassed the Lady Gaga’s much talked about numbers for “Bad Romance” from USA Today. I find out he is scheduled to take part in a dance off with Shaq from the New York Daily News. I find out he is to star in his own movie from Teen Vogue (kind of like Eminem’s 8 Mile, but far more family friendly I’m sure without Kim Basinger as a MILF).

He is even hanging out with Kim Kardashian on a beach in the Bahamas and at restaurant in Los Angeles, inspiring chemically-imbalanced teenage fans to write death threats to the sultry E! star. I’m sure the latest photos of the two sitting together outside Pinkberry with her and a plunging neckline will simply inspire more venomous tweets (I’m going to guess Kim is doing this for the publicity and the Bieb is there for the décolletage.)

Justin Bieber has already proved he can dance, turn raunchy lyrics into parent-approved bubble gum chart toppers, and host Saturday Night Live. All that is left to take over the naming rights is a Hollywood-approved girlfriend, a hilarious series of television adds with a professional athlete, and a spoof music video with Andy Samberg.

Oddly enough, this blossoming “friendship” with Kim Kardashian can help him complete the checklist. He could start dating Kim’s little sister Kendall Jenner (she has a modeling contract and I’m sure will soon be pursuing her lifelong interest in music), hook up with Tony Romo through Kim’s latest NFL connection Miles Austin, and I’m sure he and Andy could come up with some take on his tabloid connection to a strictly tabloid star.

The Bachelorette Gets Engaged

This has got to be the funnest couple ever…. Kevin and Jill Heinz had their entire wedding party literally dancing down the aisle to Chris Brown’s, “Forever”. It all started out as any other wedding and now the video that shows them dancing has been viewed by over 8 million people, and they only got married back in June. Out of nowhere the video has become this huge phenomenon when all the groom did was post the video online for their friends and family to see.  Then the morning shows both “GMA” and “The Today Show” got involved and this beautiful event turned ugly. Originally the wedding couple was flown to New York and put up in a fancy hotel by ABC so that they could appear on “Good Morning America”. ABC was excited for the couple to appear on the show until they heard they had also agreed to do a pre-taped interview for the “Today Show”, that would have appeared before the live segment on “GMA”. Oh the “GMA” people were not happy when they found out. In addition to that they also found out the NBC was flying the entire weeding party out to recreate the whole dance as we. ABC had the couple’s hotel and flights cancelled and figured they would let NBC pay for them instead. The groom was shocked how ABC handled the situation. He said, “We’ve been kicked out of our room. New York is cut throat. That’s what we have learned. Regardless of all the drama, the video is hysterical, check it out here.

A big break up to share…Kim Kardashian and boy friend, Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints, have called it after more than 2 years. A source says the reason for the break up is “just a case of conflicting schedules and their lives going in different directions.” That’s too bad. Just this past December she made this statement when discussing marriage with US magazine. “We are totally happy, and we have a great relationship and it’s definitely where things are heading. But hopefully it will be a surprise!” We may have lost one Jonas Brother to married life but another one is back on the market, girls. Joe Jonas has broken up with his girlfriend, actress Camilla Belle.  First Taylor Swift and now Camilla Belle, Joe has this to say in a song he sang in concert in Detroit this weekend…”Get a rep for breakin’ hearts, now I’m done with movie stars.” He changed the lines which had said “superstars.” Poor Joe, he needs an average Joe instead.

Kelly Clarkson is not happy about the release of her new single, “Already Gone” which she realizes sounds very similar to Beyonce’s song “Halo”.  Kelly insisted that once she realized it she fought to keep the song from being released but unfortunately it was too late and  the situation was out of her control.  In a Canadian interview over the weekend, Kelly says, “I fought and fought to stop it but in the end, they’re releasing it without my consent.”

An honest to goodness proposal on the season finale of “The Bachelorette”. Jillian chose Ed Swiderski from Chicago. Hopefully it is true love and these two will actually make it to the altar. Ed originally left the show on week 5 after feeling stress and pressure from work but then returned because he couldn’t stop thinking about Jillian. In another twist, Reid came back, after beings sent home the previous week. He came back claiming his love for Jillian and even got down on bended knee to propose. Still Jillian sent him home and claims her heart belongs to Ed. In Ed’s proposal he told Jillian, “I want to be with you forever. I want to have a family with you. I want you to give me a hard time when we’re 80 years old. Jillian will you marry me?” Awwww…..and Jillian said , “Absolutely!” I love a happy ending!

Eminem and Nick Cannon Fight

Eminem is back and he just can’t stop rapping about people in his new music. First it was Kim Kardashian Jessica Simpson, and Sarah Palin in “We Made You”. In his latest song, “Bagpipes from Baghdad” he sings about Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey and Cannon is NOT happy about it. Eminem and Carey did date briefly about 8 years ago and Cannon writes on his blog that Eminem “is still obsessed with my wife, the same female who wouldn’t let him get to second base from 8 years ago.” Then it really starts to get ugly when Cannon calls Eminem “racially insensitive” as well as an “old school Caucasian con man”. You really have to wonder what Eminem was thinking when he not only wrote the song but made it so everyone could hear it. It does seem to be a bit much and makes one think that he did step over the line and no wonder Nick Cannon is fuming over the song. There are definitely fighting words in that song. You be the judge, but it is very difficult to listen to and made me cringe. One might say take it with a grain of salt, it is Eminem after all, but it is pretty descriptive and to be quite honest pretty insulting. Sorry Mariah that out of nowhere you have to deal with this but lucky for you your hubby is willing to fight for your honor.

And speaking of back at it…Justin Timberlake was on SNL again this weekend and seriously the guy just needs to be regular, he is so funny. He did a follow up video with Andy Samberg to their “Dick in a Box” from last time for this show. This time a “lovely” video for Mother’s Day called “Motherlover”…oh sooo funny! The video also stars Susan Sarandon and Patricia Clarkson as the mothers and one might just say disrespectful and inappropriate, but its SNL so it works just fine.  Justin also does a skit where he jokes about Britney Spears and when they were dating. It was a funny show and Justin is just so talented. A not so funny performance happened for Amy Winehouse Friday night in St. Lucia, where she attempted to sing at the Jazz festival there. Oh Amy…what a train wreck…she forgot lyrics, lost her place and basically just stumbled through her song. You could almost feel her frustration as she threw up her arms at one point, and looked over at her dancers as if she had given up and couldn’t go on. Lucky for Amy (and the audience) there was a torrential storm that caused the rest of the show to be cancelled. Amy has been actually living in St. Lucia for the past several months and the concert was really her way to thank the locals for all their hospitality. Maybe just send them a thank you note next time.

Why does it seem that everywhere we look we see and hear from Kim Kardashian? Well the latest and greatest from the newly blond celeb is that she has revealed that step dad Bruce Jenner, has recently had a face lift. In fact this facelift was done to actually correct a partial facelift and a nose job that was botched that Bruce had done many years ago and had never been happy with the results. Now however he has had a doctor make the changes and fix the issues from the first time around and everyone, most especially Bruce, seems very happy with the results. In fact, Bruce who will turn 60 this year looks like he is in his 40’s. He looks great. The story actually was talked about and came up on the family’s reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Yes, it is hard to keep those things private with camera crews in your home all the time. You can check out the show on E! and if you just can’t get enough of the Kardashian sisters, Khloe and Kourtney are getting their own reality show and are heading down to Miami to open their new Dash Boutique. You can catch the new show in August and I am sure sister Kim will be showing up for some visits.

Look Out Eminem is Making His Comeback

It’s time for another “comeback”, this time Eminem is hoping it is his turn. He has a new album coming out called “Relapse” and a new video that is not only funny but I have to admit pretty good and I am not the biggest Eminem fan around. The video, “We Made You” pretty much takes a shot at a lot of the celebs out there. Look alikes are used to spoof today’s hottest celebs like Kim Kardashian and her famous rear end,  Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Jessica Simpson and even a Sarah Palin look alike manages to make it into the video, and trust me she will be wishing she hadn’t. Kim Kardashian on the other hand thought the video was funny and was flattered to be a part of it. Dr. Dre produced the new album and even has a cameo in the video as Captain Kirk from Star Trek. It is definitely out there but worth the watch.

Here is a little more baby news for you for today. Campbell Brown of CNN and her husband welcomed their second son on Monday, Asher Liam who was a big boy weighing in at 9 lbs. 4 oz and 21.5 inches. Penelope Ann Miller also welcomed her second child Maria Adela. She is the couple’s second girl.  Penelope will be in a new movie with “High School Musical” cutie, Corbin Bleu. The two can be seen in the new family movie “Robosapien: Rebooted and Free Style.” Hopefully the movie is way better then its title! And there is more “Melrose Place” news to report. I feel like this is de ja vu…the newest old cast mate to join the show is Thomas Calabro, who placed Dr. Michael Mancini. I loved the show and am so happy to see all these familiar faces returning.  I bet they are so happy to be asked to play these famous roles again. I wonder if my favorite Jack Wagner will be back too. Why do they even need the new people, just bring back all the old ones.

Despite all that she has been through this week, Madonna comes to the aid of the Italian earth quake victims. Madonna grandparents on her father’s side actually lived in the town of Pacentro many many years ago. After hearing a plea from the Mayor asking for help for the town’s people, Madonna did not hesitate. She made a huge donation. Although the amount has not been released it is said to be around $500,000. Way to go Madonna! In other optimistic news, it seems that Farrah Fawcett who was recently admitted to the hospital for internal bleeding should be released in the next few days. IT is hard to believe that Farrah Fawcett is 62 and despite battling cancer still looks amazing. Her friend Alana Stewart says that Farrah is very brave and has a strong positive spirit. We love you Farrah…keep up the good fight!

The Star and New Yorks Fashion Week

The stars have been in New York this week to support all their favorite designers.  At the Jill Stuart Fall Fashion Show you could find the Hilton sisters,Paris and Nicky,  along side Kristen Bell and Amanda Bynes. Over at the Badgley Mischka Fall Fashion show you could find other famous sisters, Kim and Kloe Kardashian, while  Eva Longoria Parker and Joy Bryant attended the big Matthew Williamson Fall Fashion Show. It is like a red carpet event of who is who and who is attending which show during the weeklong event.

One of the newest celeb designers to attend Fashion Week is multi- talented Justin Timberlake. Justin really is trying to bring sexy back and share it with the world. Justin’s look combines denim and leather for a very classic yet bold statement. Along with his fellow designers and partners Trace Ayala and Marcella and Johan Lindenberg, they put together an awesome show which was inspired by American classic movies like “Thelma and Louise” and “Rumble Fish”. I definitely remember Brad Pitt and Matt Dillon in their denim jeans. There to support her man was Jessica Biel, along with Gerald Butler, Emile Hirsch and Aubrey O’Day.

Others however are finding it is not as easy to break into the fashion world. Project Runway winner Christian Siriano was back to show his 2nd collection at fashion week but admits it is very difficult to break into this “elite fashion world”. First season Project Runway winner, Jay McCarroll, has a new documentary, called “11 Minutes” that is being released on February 20th that shows his struggles in getting his line made and to Fashion week. There is a lot of work involved, a lot of money that needs to be raised and then clients to be found to buy the items in the line. It’s raw and real. It’s amazing what needs to get done for a show that lasts literally 11 minutes.

Some say this there was a settle yet different feel this year due to the economy and it showed in the upcoming styles.  Colors were a bit more demure instead of bright and textured fabrics were back instead of “fancy embellishments”. The clothes seem to be a bit more normal and less excessive. I guess even the fashionistas feel the difficult times.

Dancing with Stars takes to the Tour

So when a reality show starts touring is it an ultra real experience? Dancing with the Stars tickets are being sold not for the studio audiences, but for a tour. I am not going to question the aesthetic value of going to a dance recital, dancing has been a qualified form of entertainment as long as music has been apart of our species history.

Ballet is no less of an art than a classical music concert. Break dancing is not considered lame while hip hop is considered cool (there are even a few movies specifically about b-boys and b-girls). One of the key factors in a musical on Broadway is the choreography. Dancing is as much a part of the entertainment landscape as the music playing in the background.

I wonder what it would be like to watch a dancing concert (not sure if that is the right term) in a huge arena like the Allstate Arena in Chicago or the Staples Center in Los Angeles. These are huge venues that seat tens of thousands of people. Does this take away from the experience because some of the audience has too watch the performances on the jumbotron on the scoreboard hanging from the middle of the arena? Or, does the large collection of fans of the show add to the experience?

I have been to basketball games and seen the action from the upper level and moved down and watched the players from a few rows deep on the lower level. It is a completely different experience.

Up high you can see and judge the action just fine, but up close the true grace, speed, and flow of the action on the court is something to truly behold. One gains appreciation for the difficulty and the skills being presented from a few yards away.

My guess is that the frenzy in the crowd will help when watching Warren Sapp, Kim Kardashian, and Susan Lucci perform their dances from the show. It is that willingness to be entertained and excited by the B-list stars that will make Dancing with the Stars worth their price.
