NFL Playoff Picture Closer – AFC West is Tight

With seven weeks remaining in the 2016-2017 season, the NFL landscape appears somewhat different than most of us expected. It seems that this year there are a few teams ahead of the league in talent and then a stiff drop off with the remainder of the NFL. In the AFC, the West division is the only one with a tight race, as three out of the four teams currently have seven wins. If the playoffs began today, the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos would all be granted a playoff berth coming out of the West. New England at 7-2, currently has the first seed in the AFC and have certainly been playing well enough to sustain that spot. At 6-3, the Houston Texans sit atop the AFC South, with the 5-4 Baltimore Ravens rounding out the AFC playoffs, for now of course. Other teams with a shot at post season glory depending on how these next seven weeks shakeout are; the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts.

As far as the NFC goes, the Dallas Cowboys currently own the top seed coming out of the East, which seems to be the only division with a tight race. If we were to enter the post season today, both the Washington Redskins and New York Giants would also be in the mix from that same division. In the North, the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings are both tied at 5-4, with the South leader, Atlanta sitting at 6-4. Seattle leads in the West with a 6-2-1 record and owns the second seed in the NFC as of Week 10. The remaining teams in the hunt for a playoff berth from the NFC are the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints.

Of course seven weeks is still ample time for a team to make a big run, or perhaps an epic slide in today’s NFL. As the race gets tighter and closer, be sure to secure your NFL tickets and see how it all unfolds. You won’t want to miss one pass, run block or sack of exciting NFL action.
