Some may worry that Adam Levine is indeed becoming overexposed. He is a judge/captain on the Voice, he is touring, and he is finding time to record a new album in between these gigs. Yet, the result is not a man overworked. Instead, he is boldly loving life and supermodels, and discovering new inspiration for Maroon 5 next big album. With Overexposed, Maroon 5 has gone pop, perhaps as a result of sitting next to Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo. Luckily, the people clamoring for Maroon 5 tickets to the tour dates do not care.
“Moves Like Jagger” has been a multi-platinum hit on its own. “Payphone” may make no sense as a music video, but it killed on the chart and has been certified platinum around the world. Even the third single from the album, “One More Night” has been a perennial radio hit and a platinum effort. Expect the fourth single from the album, “Daylight” to reach such commercial acclaim after Maroon 5’s appearance singing the song on The Voice.
These songs are not just beloved in the United States. It seems just about any part of the world with an outlet for American pop music has fallen in love with these tracks and this album. Thus, the Overexposed Tour is going to be one of the most ambitious live efforts of the band’s career. From now until July 3, 2013 Maroon 5 is going to be embarking on six legs in five continents.
Joining Maroon 5 will be Neon Trees and Owl City. They have had a similar path to popularity as Maroon 5, coming from the world of rock to pop. While Adam Levine and the guys came from alternative rock to the pop and adult contemporary charts, Neon Trees and Owl City are a little newer and are coming from indie rock to the glorious land of pop music.
