The kids of America received their own Inaugural Concert this week sponsored by the Disney/ABC. Tonight was the “Kids’ Inaugural: We Are the Future” event. It aired live on the Disney channel, which by the way paid $2 million for the rights to do so to the Presidential Inaugural Committee. With a young president in the White House accompanied by his 2 young girls there have been several events geared toward the younger generation. That is one of the things that are so exciting about Obama, it is not just the adults that are taking an interest in our new president and politics but the teenagers and young adults are also showing their support and involvement as well.
Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, the wife of Vice – President Biden hosted the event. And since it was sponsored by Disney you can bet that there were plenty of young Disney performers. Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray Cyrus along with the Jonas Brothers, and Demi Lovato performed to an audience that was filled mostly with military families from the Washington Area as well as enlisted personnel, Families of the Fallen and members from the National Guard as well as from the Reserves. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington were also largely represented. The Presidents daughters were there as well.
Disney is also hosting the first of 10 official balls this week, the Neighborhood Ball. Beyonce will sing for the President and his wife during their first dance. The stars are out in full force this week and I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
