New Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees Announced

The newest batch of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees has been named. For the second time ever, a rapper is being honored into this prestigious group and that honor goes to Run – DMC. The first rapper was Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five back in 2007. Jeff Beck is being recognized for the second time. The first time he was recognized as part of the English Group the Yardbirds back in 1992, but this time he is being honored for his own work. The event takes place in Cleveland this year on April 4th where the Hall of Fame Museum is actually located. Since 1997 the event has taken place in New York City and this is the first time that the event will actually have tickets available to the public and not just the music industry big wigs.

Metallica is also one of this year’s honorees and they are very excited to be a part of history like this. This is perfect timing for Metallica too because they have a new album, “Death Magnetic”, as well as they are currently on tour. This is a huge comeback for the band and they are just thrilled to be a part of all the excitement.
Other inductees this year include, Little Anthony and The Imperials, and Bobby Womack, a soul singer from the 60’s. Wanda Jackson, DJ Fontana, and Spooner Oldman are also being inducted. Hmmm…anyone know who these people even are? If you ask me, it is time for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to get a bit of a face lift. Currently the winners are selected by a group of 600 voters from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Here is the thing; you can be eligible for 25 years after your first recording was released. Like I said maybe that needs to be updated so that by the time you are selected your fans will still know who you are and be happy for the honor you have received.
