Hooray for the Golden Globes!

How could I not start the day without commenting and sharing news about the Golden Globes? So let’s get to it. I am happy to say that I got a chance to see “Slumdog Millionaire” on Friday night and it so helped me appreciate the winner of Best Motion Picture which went to no other then “Slumdog Millionaire”. What an intense and excellent film. Best Actress finally went to Kate Winslet, in her role for “Revolutionary Road” as well as Best Supporting Actress in “The Reader”. This is actually only the 3rd time that one person has won 2 acting awards. It doesn’t get better then that!

Best Actor goes to the comeback kid, Mickey Rourke, for The Wrestler. Pretty incredible considering who he was up against, Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Frank Langella and Leonardo DiCaprio. He hasn’t had an easy go of it and he definitely looks rough around the edges but what a stellar performance and hard core performance. He even got Bruce Springsteen to do the theme song for the movie and Bruce even gave to them for free. It definitely proves the fact that what goes around comes around because Bruce Springsteen ended up winning a golden globe for Best Original Song. He is the boss!!  Best Supporting Actor went to Health Ledger for his portrayal of the Joker in “Batman”. How honored his family must have been. Best Animated feature went to the kid’s movie “WALL –E”. I have to say, not my favorite, but out of the 3 choices it was the best one.
Now onto the winner in the TV categories. Best Television Series (Drama) went to Mad Men, which is a great one. I would have given the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series to Sally Field for her role in Brother and Sisters, however since nobody asked me, the award went to Anna Paquin for True Blood. Best Actor went to Gabriel Byrnne for his hot show “In Treatment.” No surprises for the Best Television series for a comedy or musical – t 30 Rock won it again, and both Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin win both female and male awards for the series as well.

Overall everyone looked amazing and it was great fun to watch all the Red Carpet arrivals.  Don’t get me started on the ones who didn’t look so good that is a whole other story.
