The People Have Spoken

The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards were held Wednesday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The 2 hour even was hosted by Queen Latifah. The first presenter of the night was supposed to be presented by Kate Hudson, but she was stuck in that darn L.A. traffic and didn’t make it in time. So funny lady Ellen DeGeneres graciously stepped in and gave out t the first award for “favorite funny male star” to no other then Adam Sandler. Kate Hudson did eventually make it and she herself won the award for “favorite leading lady”. She even dedicated her award to Ryder, her son, who turned 5 that day.

The Pitt- Jolie’s picked up a couple of awards as well. Although the celebrity couple couldn’t make it to the event, Brad won the award for “favorite leading man” and Angie won “favorite female action star”.  Maybe they were at home changing diapers and putting their 6 children to sleep.  Will Smith won 2 awards this year, one for “favorite male movie star” and “favorite male action star”. Definitely agree on both those counts. Reese Witherspoon won for “favorite female movie star” and not surprising,  Ellen DeGeneres picked up the award for “favorite talk show host”.
The big winner of the night was, “The Dark Knight”, which won 5 awards. IT won for “favorite action movie” as well as “favorite movie”.  “Favorite cast match” up went to Christian Bale and Health Ledger for their roles as Batman and The Joker.
A few other winner of the night were WALL-E for “favorite family movie” and 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl won “favorite movie comedy”. Carrie Underwood continued to win awards taking home 3, plus she performed as well, singing “I Know You Won’t”.  Christina Applegate won for “favorite female TV star” and Hugh Laurie won for ‘favorite male TV star”. House also won for “favorite TV drama” and Two and a Half Men took home the award for “favorite TV comedy. Congratulations to all the winners, it was a fun night!
