Elton John and Billy Joel Back Together Again

They’re back…. Elton John and Billy Joel are bringing back their Face 2 Face tour starting in March 2009. What a great pairing for the fans, to have two of the all time greats together again. It is said that the concert will open with several duets including two all time favorites “Piano Man” and “Rocket Man”. The two performers will be seated at twin pianos while sharing the songs. Then in typical Face 2 Face fashion they will split up, with each musician doing his own set before teaming up again along with both of their bands for what should be a spectacular grand finale.

They guys actually started touring together back in 1994 and their pairing is the longest running and most successful pairing in pop history according to a press release. There are so many things that make this concert great, there is of course the music and the immense talent of both of these Grammy winners, but in addition to that, it is the chemistry and respect they have for each other that makes this show so special. Billy Joel recently said that “The greatest thing about performing with Elton is that he is such a good piano player and that makes me have to dig deep to keep up with him, not to mention I’ve got the best seat in the house – only one piano away from Elton John!” I think that just says it all.
Both men are keeping themselves busy until the tour starts. In fact Elton John is on tour at the moment with his Red Piano tour in Europe and then finishing up in Vegas through February. His Red Piano tour is basically a huge celebration of Elton’s greatest hits that have spanned over 40 years. He also recently wrote the music to the new musical “Billy Elliot”. Billy Joel will be busy finishing up touring in Australia and then doing 5 nights at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Holly wood Florida before the Face 2 Face to begins. The tour will begin in Jacksonville Florida and then on to Tampa and this begins a long list of dates that will span over the next 2 years. What a great concert this will continue to be an how awesome you get 2 great artists for the price of one!
