San Francisco Giants Ready for Season – Spring Training Review

As we head into the final week of spring training, the San Francisco Giants are tweaking their 25-man roster in preparation for the season ahead.

Three members of the Giants 2014 World Series team were already optioned to Triple-A Sacramento: Andrew Susac, Hunter Strickland and Juan Perez. Susac is the most surprising of the three to not make the squad after being an integral part of the championship team, but he fell behind this spring due to a tooth infection and wrist injury.

There are some guys on the bubble after impressing the Giants coaching staff thus far and potentially have earned themselves a spot on the 2015 team. Short stop Matt Duffy had some solid moments last season but was not guaranteed to make this year’s version of the squad. He did however, have an impressive spring and could provide bench depth with his speed and good on-base percentage.

Outfielder Daniel Carbonell is someone who could make an impact later in the season if he ends up part of the 25-man roster. With San Francisco’s outfield depth taking a hit due to injuries to Hunter Pence and Angel Pagan, Carbonell has shown that he could fill in nicely, hitting .333 with a .421 on-base percentage, two home runs and five RBI’s in 15 at bats.

The 2015 San Francisco Giants are coming off a World Series Championship and will be looking to defend their title and keep that momentum going. As long as they have Madison Bumgarner at the top of the rotation and guys like Brandon Belt and Joe Panik support with solid offense, they could find themselves back in the hunt again.

The regular season is almost here and Giants ticket holders are anxious to get to AT&T Park and get the 2015 season underway as are the rest of MLB fans. San Francisco will start 2015 in Arizona as they face the Diamondbacks on Monday, April 6th.

The Rolling Stones Rumored 2015 Tour

The Rolling StonesMick Jagger and Keith Richards are still leading The Rolling Stones into stardom 50 years after creating the Rock ‘n’ Roll band.  Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood are the most current new members of the band The Rolling Stones, Mick and Keith are the two who helped create this legendary band and are why many say The Rolling Stones are the success that they are today.  Mick Jagger talked openly about how much more difficult it was when these guys started out trying to gain fame.  There were no terms such as “popular culture’ there were very few people talking about popular music on an intellectual level, social media was not even a thought on anyone’s mind.  The internet has opened opportunities for up-and-coming artists to have a platform not available to Rock Giants who got their name by word of mouth, radio and gigs that is how you got people talking about you.  Great shows, great music, Keith Richards had this to say, “It’s incredible really. In that sense we’re still living on borrowed time.”

Fans were waiting anxiously on “Satisfaction Thursday” only to be left thinking they can’t seem to get any satisfaction from the Rolling Stones when it comes to a tour line-up announcement for 2015.  There is rumor of a 15-city North American tour but that is for now only rumor.  The band finished off the year celebrating Keith Richards birthday on December 18th, the rocker was born in 1943 and thinks that songs that are written by two different people are better than those written by one and his longstanding partnership with Mick Jagger is testimony to that truth.  The two share vocals for the group and have since its creation.   Keith summarized it up best by saying this, “Levitation is probably the closest analogy to what you feel, whether it’s “Jumping Jack Flash” or (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” or “All Down The Line”, when you realize you’ve hit the right tempo and the band’s behind you. It’s like taking off a Lear Jet.” Come out to any Rolling Stones show and leave a fan no matter if it is your first time or not you will leave that concert a fan of The Rolling Stones.

Surf and Soul Tour – Beach Boys and The Temptations

Two of the greatest vocal groups of all time will be coming together again this year to do their Surf and Soul tour.  The Beach Boys and The Temptations are two American groups that have been performing for a combined total of nearly a hundred years so if anyone is wondering if this show is going to be worth the money, IT IS.  Anyone with that much musical know-how and experience that’s still in the music biz will put on a show the whole world will be talking about!

The Temptations sometimes called the Tempts or Temps achieved their fame as one of the most successful acts to record for Motown Records.  The group’s repertoire has included, R&B, doo wop, funk, disco, soul and adult contemporary music.  Formed originally as The Elgins, The Temptations have always featured at least five male vocalists/dancers and have become recognized for their choreography, distinct harmonies, and onstage suits.  They have also been attributed with influencing soul music as much as The Beatles were said to influence pop and rock music.  The Temptations still continue to perform and record for Universal Records with the one living original member, co-founder Otis Williams still in the line-up.  You can get your Surf and Soul Tour tickets here!

The Beach Boys, Iconic Southern California band were the original “boy band” they rose to popularity with their laid back surfer rock music.  They became music icons after cultivating a complex and groundbreaking sound that took the world by storm.  The generation who grew up listening to the music put out by The Beach Boys say this group helped shape them and the ideologies that many still live by today.  Monumental albums like Wild Honey and their debut album, Surfin’ Safari have helped to define them and the season of summer.  Mike Love is the only original Beach Boy to carry on the band’s name since Brian Wilson and his brothers, Carl and Dennis, and cousin Mike Love began singing and producing music while they were still in high school.

You can check out tour dates for the Surf and Soul Tour on vegastickets.com website for all upcoming 2015 Beach Boys and The Temptations as they continue touring and making music for their fans the world over.  If you have never been to a live performance by either of these groups now is the time to change that because it is never too late to get out and have some “FUN FUN FUN”, Beach Boy & Temp style.

Super Bowl XLIX Preview

If the Seattle Seahawks are going to win back to back Super Bowls, they will have to go through the last team to do so, the New England Patriots.

Let’s take a look at some key factors of this matchup and what each team will need to do to hoist that Lombardi Trophy when all is said and done.

Marshawn Lynch- The Seahawks running back is known for wearing down defenses then knocking out long runs in the second half, like the 24-yard touchdown against the Packers in the NFC Championship game. New England really strives to shut down one part of a team’s offensive attack and look for it to be Lynch on Sunday. Most likely they will lean on free safeties Patrick Chung and Devon MCCourty to clog up the run.

Gronk Smash – It is no secret that tight end Rob Gronkowski is the key to the Patriots pass offense, but secret or not, he’s still a huge factor. He is big, strong and can take men with him for decent yards after the catch. He is also great for opening up other New England receivers since he does garner so much attention. Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor is athletic enough to battle Gronk in coverage and will most likely be the one to do so.

Patriots O-Line – Seattle’s pass rush will also be key in this intense matchup. If New England quarterback Tom Brady is allowed to actually set his feet in the pocket he can do damage to any opposing defense. The Seahawks will need to get in there and make Brady uncomfortable, breaking up his rhythm and mechanics. Both New England’s offensive line and Seattle’s front seven are playing at a high level in the post season and should be one of the great battles of Super Bowl XLIX.

On paper, Sunday’s matchup is one for the record books. It’s the meeting of two number one seeds facing off in what should be a tremendous display of football on both sides of the ball. Fans of the Patriots, Seahawks or anyone who loves the game of football will not want to miss out those Super Bowl XLIX tickets.
