Just as the name would suggest, Black Sabbath has had a long history and an impressive discography. Spanning four decades, the band has released 18 studio album and five live albums. This new album will add another decade to the band biography. The story all begins back in 1968. Guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward sought to form a heavy blues rock band and recruited bassist Geezer Butler and singer Ozzy Osbourne. Instead of altering lineups, these four took a couple of years to find the right name. They began as Rare Breed, experimented with The Polka Tulk Blues Band and few others before finally discovering they could rock as the Black Sabbath (inspired by the Boris Karloff horror film of the same name). The music culture was ready for a change in musical direction and Black Sabbath led the way. They were a stark contrast to everything hippie, invoking Satanic imagery and producing a much darker sound. They decided to make the musical equivalent of a horror film. Philips Records decided to sign the group in 1969 and they were directed to the progressive rock label Vertigo Records. A year later, the album Black Sabbath released on Friday the 13th in February 1970 and debuted at number 8 on the UK Album Charts and number 23 on the Billboard 200. The group's signature song (albeit years later) became the unheralded single "Iron Man". The album has been hailed as one of the best of all time and the song remains in radio rotation to this day. Black Sabbath's best-selling album would be released a little later in 1970. Paranoid went quadruple platinum and went number one in the UK. For the next decade Ozzy dominated as the front man. Masters of Reality, Black Sabbath Vol. 4, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath completed a tremendous run in the early decade. Substance abuse took hold of this roster and by 1979 Ozzy Osbourne had been fired. Ronnie James Dio stepped in as the lead singer, and the band continued a descent that started back in 1973. Though Black Sabbath tickets remained popular, the albums failed to sell or dominate the charts as they had in the past. Now the original Black Sabbath is back and they plan to tour and release the group's first recording since 1995. OnlineSeats has the Black Sabbath tickets for this upcoming reunion tour, so find great seats for cheap and enjoy legendary rock stars like Ozzy grace the stage once again.
