To support himself, Currington got a job in a concrete company but the work was so demanding that he found himself with little time to devote to his music. He quit and got a job as a part-time trainer and as luck would have it, he met a member of the music publishing industry who invited Currington to sing and eventually helped get him signed. Currington's deep Southern sound with a blues tinge touched many hearts and his lyrics about everyday people that live the Southern life also struck a chord.
His very first album spawned two big hits, 'I Got a Feelin'' and ' 'Walk a Little Straighter'. Country superstar Shania Twain was so taken with his voice that he was invited to do a duet for the country version of her song 'Party for Two'. This single went a long way in launching Currington into the spotlight and soon people were beginning to notice the Georgia crooner and his style. His second album reached the number one spot on the country charts and continues to do well.
