Billy Bragg Tickets for Sale

Get your tickets to see a talented, innovative and outspoken singer/songwriter who boldly follows in the footsteps of legends like Woody Guthrie, even in this day and age. Come get your tickets to see Billy Bragg live in concert! This industrious and vocal musician represents the fearless brand of music that actually says something of substance and sounds good at the same time. In an age of plastic boy bands and girl groups that all sing about the same thing, Billy Bragg is a breath of fresh air that keeps blowing and keeps the concept of original music alive.

Bragg was born in 1957 in the district of Barking- hence he is often known as the
Bard of Barking. After a less than successful stint at school, a failed band and a failed military career, Bragg began taking his solo career to the streets, busking and singing wherever he could, going to the extent of pretending he was a television repair man just so he could get into a room with Peter Jenner of Charisma records. Jenner was so impressed that despite financial difficulties, Bragg's first album was released in 1983 with its only promotion being Bragg's non-stop gigging.

From 1984 onwards, Bragg began releasing albums that had a definite political stance to them. This unique blend of protest, folk, punk and rock found a ready audience with fans right across the globe. Bragg's work would be some of the most outspoken of the decade and he would go on to work with musicians like Less Than Jake, R.E.M., Johnny Marr, Wilco and the late Kirsty MacColl. Bragg was also invited by Nora Guthrie to set some of Woody Guthrie's unrecorded lyrics to music.

Bragg has always been a vocal opponent of racism, homophobia, sexism and bigotry. In 2004, he appeared on the Rock Against Bush album with punkers Less Than Jake.
