Nershi along with his wife has formed another new project which is a new acoustic one Honkytonk Homeslice. Jilian is the singer, composer and is also the guitarist for the band. Apart from the couple, another member joins the band Scott Law, who is the singer, songwriter, mandolin-player and the guitarist of the band, from Portland, Oregon. The band is known to take the music to the roots where String Cheese began their first endeavor. According to Billy Nershi "Honkytonk Homeslice invites listeners into our living room (not literally) for an intimate performance that everyone can participate in. The audience is encouraged to sing along during the show. Sometimes they even make it up to the stage to join us. It's the kind of entertainment people used to make for themselves before radio and TV dominated."
The band was formed in the year 2004, when they were singing and playing during the festival of String Cheese Incident, as Jilian Nershi admits "We noticed a crowd gathering around us. The next night, the crowd was even bigger". These boosted the confidence of the band and they kept on playing for the consecutive days, as Scott Law admits "We were having such a good time pickin' and singin' that we kept falling back by the camp to play together between the official sets Billy and I had. We swapped songs and sang harmony as a trio and Jilian stole the show. The idea of gigs was brought up by one of the bystanders and that spark rolled into a small tour for the Nershis. I joined subsequent tours as a special guest and soon we bagan to suspect that we had some kind of special chemistry going on. By last summer's west coast run, we realized we were becoming a band."
They performed their first official gig at the Acoustic Coffee House in Nederland, Colorado, in the year 2004, they then performed on the west coast, on the eastern seaboard, in the midwest and also in the Rocky Mountains and were performing bluegrass, psychedelic country music of Emmy Lou Harris and Gram Parsons and also playing the tunes of Talking Heads tunes and String Cheese. They also released a self-titled album, which became a huge hit.

Artist Biography - Bill Nershi
An acclaimed guitarist, Bill Nershi is known to formed two famous groups- The String Cheese Incident and Honkytonk Homeslice. He is the guitarist, singer and songwriter of The String Cheese Incident. Currently, he has formed Honkytonk Homeslice, which is his new acoustic project.
The String Cheese Incident was formed in the year 1993, in Boulder, Colorado. They were one of the bands who were actively involved in the jam movement during the 1990s. During that time they used to play gigs in the local ski resorts. The members of the band consists of Michael Kang who plays acoustic/electric mandolin and violin, Michael Travis is the drummer and is percussionist, Bill Nershi plays acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar, and electric slide guitar, Kyle Hollingsworth plays piano, organ, Rhodes, and accordion, and Keith Moseley is the bass guitarist in the band. In the year 2004, another band joined the band, Jason Hann as an auxiliary percussionist.
The music of the band is influenced by rock, bluegrass sounds, calypso, funk, country, Latin, jazz, reggae and psychedelia. The String Cheese Incident also known as SCI. But rather than describing themselves as a band, they prefer to call themselves as 'democratic ensemble', the reason behind these all the members of the group are actively involved in the music of the band and are also known to compose their own original compositions. The members also share vocal in various cover versions and also in their own songs. Whatever the case may be, Nershi remains the indisputable leader who is responsible for composing the originals songs for the group or as they lovingly call themselves democratic ensemble.
