The band was formed in the year 2004 by Aram Arslanian, Todd Jones, Chris Everett, Greg Bacon and Todd Preboski. Jones and vocalist Aram TK thought of forming the band. They then plunged into action by finding out their musician friends. Thus friendship was actually the driving force in forming the band. The idea was always there in the back of their band, and when they thought it was the right time to form a band they went ahead with the idea. Jones and Aram appointed drummer Todd Preboski and bassist Greg Bacon for the rhythm section. The sole reason to recruit them was that they were fast friends and also they had the prior experience of playing classic sounding hardcore. While Bacon and Jones carried on with Carry On, on the other hand Preboski and Arm worked in Champion. The band enjoys a long distance relationship too. Preboski lives in Seattle, Aram in Vancouver, while Jones and Bacon lives in Southern California. But this distance never deters them to continue with the band, they still remains a focused and cohesive unit. They keep things in check and make it work. They work hard and play hard.
The songs are generally written by Todd Jones and he is also the guitarist in the band. Their songs rock supremely. They play hardcore from the heart. They released their first album Betrayed under Equal Vision and then a year later they released their second album titled Substance. This album has got vibes in itself. The songs touches your heart. One of the song from Substance "We search for substance" in reality explains that the the band is not like any other band that is looking out to play the role. They don't do mimicry like some other bands do.. Their songs reflect their originality, their melody although there is certain kind of aggressiveness that is both fast and catchy. There he worked with the producer Kurt Ballou and while working with him gathered many informations as well as experiences. The producer helped the band with structures, ideas, mixes, sounds and writing. One of the songs 'Work For It' is about the fake bands and the it clearly depicts the present scenario of the emerging bands where some of the bands expect everything to be spoon-fed and don't put up any real hard work. Unlike other bands, Betrayed still continue to make such type of music that reflects hardcore scene ideals and values. Most of their songs reflects the reality of life. Bring It To Life reflects the struggles that one has to do while getting older. Another heart rendering song is "As we grow older, we have friends disappear and people can be slaves to material possessions". "I'm Not Afraid" is another song with good lyrical content. It explains that an individual should not be afraid and must be able to stand up and confront issues that are personal. It also explains that one should learn from the earlier mistakes. The band tries to induce the much needed shot of loud, fast hardcore music as well as some meaningful lyrics into the youths of today.
