Her later appearance include The Horn And Hardart Children's hour, and Name That Tune. At the age of ning she got her Equity Card and adopted the name of Bernadette Peters. Her first critically appreciated performance came in Dames at Sea , a Off-Broadway spoof of 1930s musical. Her most memorable screen appearance was the classic comedy The Jerk co-starring Steve Martin. Her association with Stephen Sondheim's music saw her appearing in Sunday in the Park with George, and Into the woods , and in 2003 she returned to ‘Gypsy' as Mama Rose.
