The show, as aforementioned is based on the popular books by Stan and Jan Berenstain. Writing in any form, for whatever audience is an art in itself. Moreover, if it is illustrated writing it becomes even more difficult. Illustrated writing for children is very difficult, as the creators need to think like children and it is well know fact that children are very picky. All this exemplifies the talent of the creators of these lovable characters. Stan and Jan Berenstain met and in Miss Sweeneys drawing classes at the Philadelphia Museum of Industrial Art (now, The University of the Arts) in 1941. Their mutual interest in drawing saw them embarking on a warm friendship from their first meeting itself and this association soon turned into marriage after a few years. Both of them were also interested in cartooning and were regular contributors to ‘Collier's', and ‘The Saturday Evening Post, furthermore they also became the cover artists for Coolier's.
The introduced the Berenstain Bear family in this first children book in 1962. Children were captivated from the first line itself, which went ‘who live down a sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country'.
