Background- Ben Folds is an excellent pianist, songwriter, brilliant performer and is also a multi-instrumetalist.

Benjamin Scott Folds popularly known as Ben Folds was born in the year 1966 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in a middle-class family. He started playing piano at the age of 9. Folds has played in several bands, during his school days, as the pianist, bassist, or drummer. During the 80's he joined the band Majosha. He played his first gig with the band at Duke University's Battle.

In the year 1990, Folds moved to Nashville and formed a new band Jody's Power Bill, which also became popular and Fold used to play drums in the band. As Folds says, ""In Nashville, I was running eight miles a day, hanging out with my friends, walking around eating chocolate-chip cookies and playing a lot of drums, which I enjoyed. Life was easy. I was never frustrated -- even though I wasn't fulfilling my contract obligations. If you are failing in Nashville, at least your standard of living is nice. Nashville is a nice way to fail." After some time Folds moved to New York, and started working with theater troupes. He was enjoying doing acting and so didn't return to the music scenario for some time.

But he couldn't remain away for long from music. He formed the band Ben Folds Five with bassist Robert Sledge, and drummer Darren Jessee in 1994. A year later they released a self-titled debut album and this was followed by many albums, EPs, which were hit. After that Fold started his own solo career. His first album was Rockin' the Suburbs in 2001. The album was a hit and from then Fold has never looked back.
