Baseball is America’s past time. This cannot be counted as fact, but it as close as can be in a world as subjective as sport. What can be counted as fact is that baseball was the first American team sport to organize into a professional league. It was the first to introduce the idea of a championship game that brought together champions from two bitter rival leagues. It was also the first to introduce an All Star Game. Baseball tickets continue to be extremely popular in the 21st century, when the league has stopped offering many firsts.

This is a true feat, as nearly two decades ago the MLB threatened to alienate fans with a strike that canceled what could have been an amazing World Series. The league and the sport has come back though, spurred by a record-breaking homerun race and winning fans back as parity has seemed to overtake a league once dominated by the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals. Baseball is going strong in the 21st century and will continue to as it recovers from the steroid scandal that followed the homerun race.  Of course, not every sports fan can enjoy an MLB game, but those fans have plenty of minor league games and independent league games to enjoy.
