Artist Biography - Barenaked Ladies
Barenaked Ladies are one of the most popular Canadian bands in history and simultaneously they have achieved commercial success in the tough U.S. market. Their name stems from a childhood slang term, meaning a naked woman. The band is predominantly made up of 5 men who all lived near Toronto, Canada in the town of Scarborough. The band came together in the late 1980s, 1988 to be exact. The members are Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Andrew Creegan, and Tyler Stewart. Just like their predecessors, the band started off by working hard and mainly singing in clubs and so forth. It did not take long for word to spread around and their first album, Gordon, achieved success. Gordon sold over 500,000 copies in Canada and at the time they even outsold huge acts such as Michael Jackson and U2.
