The spa city, Bad Orb is situated in the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse, Germany. Situated 32 km east of Hanau, Bad Orb has an excellent landscape of the forested hills in the Nature Park Spessart. It is considered one of the largest forested areas of Germany.

Bad Orb is important historically – famous canyon-side donkey path running through the Großheubach in Milteberg Kreis passes through this wonderful city – and this trade route had been once used to transport salt to the Main River in the past. The city has witnessed the first ever salt deposits that had been discovered here in 650. It is home to the renowned summer camp for the children called Frankfurter Schullandheim Wegscheide. It was planned on the grounds of the former army training camp in 1920.

This city borders other prominent cities like Wächtersbach and Bad Soden-Salmünster in the north; Spessart in the east; Jossgrund in the south and Biebergemünd in the west. It had been documented for the first time in 1059. It attained the privilege of being a town in 1244. Legal formalities were completed, and the governance process began with minting of coins and Orber (one half Pfennig) as secondary initiatives. One can still see the remains of the battlements of that era in the form of debris at the walls and gates. It, though, has its modern and unique look today; it is famous for extraction of salt from the salt springs.

The production of white gold reached to its high point in the 17th and 18th centuries from here. Bad Orb became Prussian during the campaigns of the Austro-Prussian Wars in 1866. This city was termed a certified spa town of Germany in 1909. The brothers Friedrich and Wilhelm Hufnagel founded a children's medical facility here in 1884.

The area has developed so much so that it is famous to hold the position of an ancient Germanic tribal standard, which is also known as Orbism. The ancient Orb ruins were found at an undisclosed area of Leopold Koch Straße few decades ago.
