The historical spa town, Bad Münstereifel is part of Euskirchen district in Germany. This city is located in the southern German state, North Rhine-Westphalia. With its 19,000 inhabitants, this tiny city is a historical town par excellence in the southern area of North Rhine-Westphalia that attracts large number of tourists.

Bad Münstereifel was the first district around the city of Euskirchen to be created in 1827. Ironically it was then smaller than its present shape. The district of Rheinbach was dissolved in 1932. At the same juncture, Euskirchen district took over its southern part. Euskirchen developed after the inclusion of Schleiden district in 1972.

This district is geographically located inside the Eifel hill chain. Hardly any agricultural activity was performed here in the past. That is the primary reason that this region remained underdeveloped even in the ancient era. This region once possessed its only wealth in the form of iron ore. Another historical figure born in Bad Münstereifel was the ‘holy doctor of Moscow,’ Friedrich Joseph Haass, who was born here on August 10, 1780. He died on August 16, 1853 in Moscow. He had spent 25 years of his life to humanize the penal system as a member of the governmental prison of Moscow until the end of his life.

The unofficial Nintendo fan convention, NCON had been in the St. Angela Gymnasium of Bad Münstereifel in the recent years. It is considered one of the biggest events of its kind in Europe. Euskirchen district in the south-west of North Rhine-Westphalia has neighboring districts including Aachen, Düren, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Rhein-Sieg, Ahrweiler, Daun, Bitburg-Prüm, and the Liège province of Belgium.
