The capital of the district of Bad Kreuznach, ‘Bad Kreuznach’ is an important Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. This tiny city is situated on the Nahe River – as a tributary to the Rhine. This region alongside its nearby areas is famous globally for the production of best wines, particularly the Riesling, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau grape varieties.

This famous district in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany is surrounded with other districts including Rhein-Hunsrück, Mainz-Bingen, Alzey-Worms, Donnersbergkreis, Kusel and Birkenfeld in the north and in the clockwise. It is also in the limelight for the presence of medieval castles here – especially along with the Nahe River here. The Kyrburg of Kirn too was built here in the 12th century, which still sits in the state above the river. It is one of the best attractions of Germany.

The Prussian government established Kreuznach district in 1815, which merged with the Meisenheim district in 1932. This district was officially renamed from Kreuznach to Bad Kreuznach in 1969. An ideal place in the hilly country, it is the main axis at the Nahe River that enters into the territory in the west and runs through Kirn, Bad Sobernheim and Bad Kreuznach, and ultimately leaves the region in the northeast.

The entire region comprising of this district and adjoining Birkenfeld district is famous as Naheland. The region has a systematic arrangement where the banks of the lower Nahe are peculiarly planned for the vineyards. Many sparsely populated forests in the region are, though, far from the streams but still they make excellent impact in the narrow affluent of Nahe River.

One of the 16 federal states of Germany, Rhineland-Palatinate state has an area of 19,846 square kilometers. According to the recent census statistics this state has about four million inhabitants. The tiny but pretty city of Mainz is its capital. This federal state was established on August 30, 1946. This new state was legally confirmed by a referendum on 18 May 1947.
