Avril Lavigne Tickets for Sale

With 14 million albums sold and 8 Grammy nominations to her credit, Avril Lavigne has proven herself one of the top female acts today. And most importantly, it's under her own terms. Refusing suggestions by Arista records to have her material written for her, a determined Avril pressed on composing the songs for her debut release Let Go with producer Clif Magness at the age of 16. And if you think that's young, that's nothing!
Avril started singing and performing at age 2 and quickly gained a reputation around her home town of Napanee, Ontario. Until the age of 10 the punk pop princess performed locally, honing her performing skills and belting out country tunes. Her first big break came a few years later when she won a local radio contest that put her on stage for a duet with fellow Ontario native Shania Twain.

Inspired by the brief glimpse of the spotlight, Avril Lavigne sent out tapes of some of her performances to an endless list of management and record companies. Luckily for Avril, Antonio "LA" Reid, the president of Arist Records, signed her to a record deal before she even recorded a demo. Soon after the 16 year old was off to Manhattan to begin her music career under the watchful eye of Arista. However, Avril wasn't feeling that her songs represented her edgy style, and tried her luck in Los Angeles instead. The move quickly paid off for Avril when she met new producers and a management team that has guided such acts as Sarah Mclachlan, Dido, Coldplay, and Sum 41.
With a new start, the songs for Let Go took shape and the foundation was laid for the album which would go platinum within five weeks of its release in 2002. Just a few months earlier, Avril Lavigne was still in high school back in Napanee. Not bad for a girl from a town of 5,000 people.
