Aventura are a New York-based, Dominican boy band. What makes them different from the long queue of boy bands is that they have their roots deep in bachata music. The band was formed in 1994 in the Bronx and consists of Anthony Santos, Lenny Santos, Max Santos, and Henry Santos Jeter.
The band wanted to bring bachata music into the main stream from its traditional roots. They wanted to fuse it with hip-hop and R&B. The boys kept practicing and trying to get that elusive break. The break finally came in 1999, they were signed by BMG and released their debut album with an outside producer. This was so that the record company would not mold them into another Backstreet Boys or N sync. The album 'Generation Next' retained the bachata element.
