Subway Fresh 500 Tickets Previously known as the Subway Fresh Fit 500, and formerly the eighth race on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series calendar, the Subway Fresh Fit 600, held at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, is now the seventh race on the schedule. The name change came about in conjunction with the lengthening of the race which was just announced in January, 2010; as one of only three NASCAR events to be measured in kilometers, rather than miles or laps, the former 502-kilometer race (312 laps) has been increased to 603 kilometers (375 laps), and usually begins a little before sunset and finishes during the night, under the speedway lights. As part of 2005's NASCAR Realignment, Phoenix was awarded this second Subway-sponsored date, and since there was already a race sponsored by Subway on the schedule, the name Subway Fresh 500 was created to eliminate some of the confusion. Subway later added the word "Fit" to the deal to promote its Fresh Fit combo choices, and the other Subway-sponsored race has now been replaced by the TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville. The Subway Fresh Fit race replaced a 400-mile race at Darlington Raceway on the schedule after Darlington lost its fall race (the Southern 500), and its remaining race was lengthened to 500 miles and moved to May. Phoenix International Raceway's receiving the second date coincided with the installation of lights at the track, which permitted night racing for the first time since the track opened, an advantage that NASCAR has used to the fullest extent.

 The Subway Fresh Fit 600 has been dominated by Chevrolet in its first five years of existence; Ford may have won the inaugural race in 2005, but Chevy has won the last four (2006-09). The 2007 Subway Fresh Fit 500 not only marked the first time the Car of Tomorrow had raced at Phoenix International Raceway, but also marked Jeff Gordon's 76th career victory, tying him on the all-time Sprint Cup Series win list with the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Gordon celebrated that milestone accomplishment by flying the #3 flag during his victory lap, thus honoring the "old school" Earnhardt, and also endearing many fans that had once despised the "new school" Gordon.
