The 2008 Kobalt Tools 500 saw Toyota make history when, for the first time since 1954, a foreign automobile manufacturer won a NASCAR Sprint Cup series race. Kyle Busch notched the victory after Carl Edwards' car began smoking, forcing him to pit after having dominated almost the entire race.
