While most tracks are ovals, others are tri-ovals, quad-ovals, triangular, or ovals with unequal ends. Race speeds vary widely based on the track. The fastest track is Talladega Superspeedway where the record race speed is 188 mph while the slowest tracks are Infineon Raceway and Martinsville Speedway. NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 38 states and is the largest sanctioning body of motor sports in the US. In addition to the Nextel Cup, the largest series sanctioned by NASCAR are the minor league Busch Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series.
The AT&T 250, previously named DieHard 250 (1998-1999) is a NASCAR Busch Series race held at the Milwaukee Mile. Busch Series was formed in 1982 and is NASCAR's second division. It is essentially a proving ground for drivers who wish to step up to the organization's top level, the Nextel Cup. The cars used today in the Busch Series have a slightly shorter wheelbase and a larger spoiler than their counterparts in Nextel Cup. The cars use fuel that contains lead. After implementing Car of Tomorrow in the Nextel Cup series, NASCAR will work on changing the cars run in the Busch Series.
