Dickies 500 Tickets As the 34th official NASCAR race on the Sprint Cup Series calendar, and eighth in the ever-important Chase for the Sprint Cup, the 334-lap Dickies 500 is actually a 501-mile race scheduled for Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. As one of the newest events in Sprint Cup history, the inaugural Dickies 500 took place on November 6, 2005, and continues to be held on the first weekend in November each year, even though Texas Motor Speedway has expressed interest in changing the date, due to this weekend also being the beginning of the Texas deer hunting season. To this point, no change has been made, and the race remains as is. The short five-year history of the Dickies 500 consists of one two-time winner, with Carl Edwards winning the first and fourth Dickies 500 events in 2005 and 2008, while Tony Stewart (2006), Jimmie Johnson (2007), and defending race champ Kurt Busch (2009) are the three other drivers to have claimed a Dickies 500 checkered flag in Texas.

 As an interesting Hollywood tidbit, it is actually the Dickies 500 which is highlighted in the 2006 film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby – the scene where on the last lap Ricky Bobby spins out with Jamie McMurray and, while McMurray continues on normally, Bobby puts the car in reverse and wins by crossing the finish line going backwards. The filming was actually done at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but the wall is painted to exactly resemble the Texas Motor Speedway Dickies 500 race.
