Dickies 500 Tickets As the 34th race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season, and eighth in the all-important Chase for the Sprint Cup, the Dickies 500 is a 334-lap, 501-mile race scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. The inaugural Dickies 500 took place on November 6, 2005, and the race is traditionally held on the first weekend in November each year, even though Texas Motor Speedway has expressed interest in changing the date, due to also being the opening weekend of Texas' deer hunting season. The short four-year history of the Dickies 500 has already seen a two-time winner, with Carl Edwards winning the first and last races, in 2005 and 2008, while Tony Stewart (2006) and Jimmie Johnson (2007) are the other two drivers to have won the Dickies 500.

 As an interesting side note, the Dickies 500 is highlighted in the 2006 film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby; the scene where on the last lap Ricky Bobby spins out with Jamie McMurray, and while McMurray continues on normally, Bobby puts the car in reverse and wins by crossing the finish line going backwards. The filming was actually done at Lowe's Motor Speedway, but the wall was painted to look like the Texas Motor Speedway Dickies 500 race.
