Did you ever dream of having a NASCAR race named after you? The Crown Royal Presents the Your Name Here 400 is a Sprint Cup stock car race that offers a chance to do just that. Since 2007, race title sponsor Crown Royal names the race after the winner of an essay contest during Daytona Speedweeks.
The Your Name Here 400 is currently held as a Saturday night event in early May, at the Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. For several years previously, it was held as a daytime race event, the weekend after the Daytona 500 in February. Although lights were installed at the track in 1991, the spring race remained during the day, but consistent cold weather, and even a snow delay in 1989, eventually prompted track officials to hold the race later in the spring. The race was permanently moved from Sunday afternoon to Saturday night, but continued to be moved around between May and June, until finally fixing on the early May race date by 1999.
In 2007, for the first time in the track's history, the races were broadcast on network television, when the Crown Royal 400 was shown on FOX. Prior to that, during the 1980s and early 1990s, TBS covered the race, with ESPN taking over later in the decade, and FX airing it from 2001-2006.
