 Ryan Newman led the trio of Mobil 1-sponsored Dodge drivers in Saturday night's Chevy American Revolution 400 at Richmond, Va., with a hard earned ninth-place finish. Teammates Rusty Wallace and Brendan Gaughan finished 16th and 34th, respectively, in the 400-lap race around the .750-mile Richmond International Raceway.
After starting second, Newman diced it up with the leaders and took a time at the point, before a series of pit sequences put him momentarily out of the top 10. He tagged to outside wall with less than 100 laps remaining, but hung on for his seventh top-10 finish of the year and gained a spot in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings in doing so.
