Augustana is a brand-new four member rock band. The band was formed in 2004. The band consist of Dan Layus, Josiah Rosen, Jared Palomar and Justin South. They are one of those that are just so gifted by fate. They look complete in every way. From their music to their songwriting style, everything is just bursting with talent and expression. Their music is original and organic.
The band came into being when Dan and Josiah left college to pursue their musical dreams in California. They left their small town of Greenville, Illinois and set out with nothing but self belief and a head full of aspirations. Both boys then convinced their keyboardist, Jared Palomar to quit school and join them in California. The trio came together and things looked like they were beginning to move. They then recruited Justin South through mutual friends and the band was complete.

The band is young and even at such a ripe age, the band songs and lyrics have depth and are thought provoking. Something bands and artists senior to them may not be able to boast of. The band then began touring and bouncing around the country. The boys then ended up in Chicago and continued to rehearse and sharpen their skills. This is when rock producer Brendan O'Brien heard their demos and specially flew down to Chicago to listen to them play. They sealed the deal at that very moment and a few months later found themselves at the South Tracks Studio in Atlanta recording their debut album, 'All The Stars and Boulevards' in 2005.
