Destra Garcia was born on November 10, in the year 1977 in Trinidad. She is a well-known Trinidad and Tobago singer as well as songwriter. She is know for her soca genre of music. She is the oldest one of her four siblings. She was raised up in a community of Desperlie Crescent, Laventille, that lies in the eastern part of Port of Spain. She independently released her first single album titled "Ah Have A Man Already", that she did with the group Third Base. In 1999, the album caught the attention of Roy Cape. He liked the songs so much that she gave her invitation to join the Roy Cape All Stars Band, as one of the lead vocalists. She agreed to play with them. Side by side she carried on with her solo projects too. In the year 2002 when Atlantik approached her, she readily agreed to join them. This has resulted in a successful songwriting partnership with Kernal Roberts, till 2005. Together they released super hits such as "Wha Yuh Want", "Negative Vibes" and "Bonnie & Clyde", that made popular among their fans. In the year 2003, Destra released her first album, entitled "Red, White, Black". This album went on to become a smash hit. It also includes her hit duet "It's Carnival" with Machel Montano. The song was so much liked by the audiences that it went on to become the virtual anthem of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and what's more the popularity hasn't still fallen.
Apart from a popular singer and songwriter, she is also known for her dressing style too. She has enthralled her fans from short shorts to the rockstar look, during her soc performances. She is described by most of her friends and fans as perky and girlish, that is a Trinidadian version of an American pop princess. In the year 2003, she released her first CD, entitled "Red White & Black". He next CD, "Laventille" was released in the year 2005. Her hits includes "Come Beta" that features Shurwayne Winchester and "Bonnie & Clyde", that was released for 2004 carnival season and also one of her mega hits of 2005, "Fly" and "We Say So". She released a track entitled "The hammer Revisited", where she pays a tribute to her hometown, which was a duet with calypso veteran David Rudder. In conjunction with the band Dil E Nadan, she applied her unique flavor to the song "Aur Chale" and released "Max It Up" and "Independent Ladies", that became a hit, in the year 2006. Recently she has released a song called "Jumpin", that too, turned out to be a smash hit. Destra Garcia's song, "Bonnie and Clyde" has also featured in a Parrot Bay commercial.
