Ataris
The Ataris is a rock band formed during the late 90's. The band was formed after Kris Roe met Joe Escalante in 1997 at a Vandals concert. Escalante was impressed with Roe's demo and asked him to form a band and record for his label, Kung-Fu Records.
Roe then shifted to California and started his search for band mates. He added guitarist Marco Pena, bassist Mike Davenport and drummer Derrick Plourde from the band Lagwagon. But even before the band could stand up on its feet, Plourde was replaced by Chris Knapp. This was the new formed band and were named the Ataris. The band recorded their first album, "Anywhere But Here" for Kung-Fu Records.
They were soon noticed by Fat Wreck Chords owner Fat Mike. The Ataris then took the opportunity to be with a bigger label and signed on to Fat Wreck records. Soon enough the band had issued a EP, "Look Forward to Failure." The band released their second full length album, "Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits" in 1999. The band have been touring with the likes of MxPx, Homegrown and Blink 182. The band issued their next album, "Let it Burn" in 2000.
