Arctic Monkeys
Arctic is a very young and upcoming band from the UK. They hail from Sheffield and have been influenced by bands like Jam, the Clash and the Smiths. The band consists of vocalists and guitarists Alex Turner, guitarists Jamie Cook, drummer Matt Helders and bassist Andy Nicholson.
The band practiced by singing and memorizing hits songs by the White Stripes and the Vines. They singed a record deal in 2004 with Domino records which is home to artists like Franz Ferdinand and Clinic. Their first single, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor" debuted at number one on the UK singles charts when it was released in 2005.
The band released their debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, thats What I Am Not" in 2006. The album was a hug hit and sold 118,501 copies on its first day in the UK. They set a record for selling more records than all other artists in the Top 20 albums chart combined.
