Anson Funderburg is a guitarist and front man of his band, the Rockets. His critically acclaimed albums for the BlackTop label have taken him and his band from the clubs to stages of the top festivals in the country. With the assistance of vocals and harmonica tunes by Sam Myers the band has a sound that resonates a blend of Texas jump Blues and Delta blues. Its unique sound is the reason for the band performing nearly 300 night a year.
Funderburg began playing the guitar when he was only seven years old. His began playing in the clubs of his native Dallas. He unique approach to blues music comes from what he learnt from great blues artists like Freddie King, Jimmy Reed and Albert Collins when they passed through the clubs of Dallas. Funderburg formed his band the Rockets in 1978. He then recorded with the Fabulous Thunderbirds on their album "Butt Rockin." He went solo in 1981 when he signed up with the BlackTop label. The label released "Talk To You by Hand" which was also the label's first release.

He released "Tell Me What You Want To Hear" in 1991, "Live At the Grand Emporium"in 1995 and "That's What They Want" in 1997. In 1999, after a long association with BlackTop he switched labels and signed with Bullseye Blues. He released "Change in my Pockets" in 1999. His latest release is "Which Way Is Texas?"
