Ann Hampton Callaway is one of the most widely acclaimed singer/songwriters working in pop/jazz today. Born and raised in Chicago, Ann's earliest recordings were on a series of releases by Ben Bagley's Painted Smiles label. She recorded bonus tracks for CD reissues of Noel Coward Revisited in 1990, Cole Porter Revisited in 1991, and Alan Jay Lerner Revisited in 1992.She also appeared on recordings of the shows Shoestring Revue and Tallulah. "I Gaze in Your Eyes," became the single on her debut album, Ann Hampton Callaway, released on DRG Records in 1992. She has received national attention from television audiences for her song "The Nanny Named Fran" which she wrote and performed for the CBS television comedy hit, "The Nanny."
In 1994 she released her second album, Bring Back Romance. In 1996 she teamed up with her sister for the album Sibling Revelry, and later they performed a musical of the same name in London. Another of Ann's works of art, "At the Same Time" was recorded by Barbra Streisand for her CD, "Higher Ground" which debuted nationally at number one in 1997. Ann received a Tony Award nomination in 2000 for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her work in the Broadway musical hit, "Swing", and won the Theatre Musical Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut. Ann has recently made her screen debut playing Mrs. White in the upcoming independent film "Sky King" and is preparing to host a new TV series, soon to be announced. With her new album, Slow, Ann sets out to take the recording in a new direction. She strived to make a romantic album that would be a sign of more of the contemporary aspect of her artistry. This new album proves that her development is continuous as a multi platinum and award winning songwriter.
