Angie Stone is a singer/songwriter and keyboardist from Columbia. She is one of those rare artists whose talent is really exceptional. Her first steps in the music industry were taken when she became the lead vocalist of Vertical Hold.
She released a single "Seems You're Much Too Busy." The single became an overnight sensation and convinced her that she had what it took to be a solo artist. The single was released in 1993. But it took her some time to get her solo act together. She finally took the plunge with her debut solo album, "Black Diamond" in 1999 on Arista Records. The single, "No More Rain" became a hit among the youth.
When she started her musical career, she was singing gospel music and since her father was a member of a local gospel quartet, she got all the exposure and support she needed. By the time she completed her schooling, she was a trained and effortless singer. She joined Gwendolyn Chrsolm just after she passed school and became actively involved in Rap. She released some hit numbers with Cheryl Cook including, "Funk You Up," "Funky Sound" and "Roof Off the Sucker." Her talent was undeniable and soon she was hooking up with the likes of rocker Lenny Kravitz and rapper Mantronix.
