Adelanto’ is a city that is located in San Bernardino County, California. It is located around 9 miles from the northwest of Victorville. The meaning of “Adelanto” in the Spanish language is to have “a lot of progress.”

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 138.7 km² (53.5 mi²). 138.6 km² (53.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.04%) is water.

In the state legislature Adelanto comes in the 17th and 18th Senate Districts. Republicans George Runner and Roy Ashburn represented it respectively. Republican Sharon Runner represented it in the 36th Assembly District.

According to the census that was held in the year 2000, there were 18,130 people, 4,714 households and 3,841 families residing in the city. The population density was 130.8/km² (338.7/mi²). There were 5,547 housing units at an average density of 40.0/km² (103.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 50.45% White, 13.11% African American, 1.61% Native American, 1.60% Asian, 0.18% Pacific Islander, 26.58% from other races and 6.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 45.77% of the population.
