Aaron Neville has always said that the day he was born was the first time he recognized he had a voice. Well known for his part in the New Orleans sound of the Neville Brothers, and, aside from the 1967 number one R&B hit "Tell It Like It Is," few have heard his incredible early solo recordings. Many of his first recordings in the mid 1960's were arranged, produced, and written by Allen Toussaint. The Neville Brothers began their string of successful albums in 1977, beginning on Capitol and moving to A&M. Written and sung by Aaron, "Yellow Moon," became the high point for his career in 1989. His solo career was revived in 1991 with Warm Your Heart, the acclaimed album produced by George Massenburg and Linda Ronstadt. Aaron has won four Grammys: in 1989 for Best Pop Duo with Linda Ronstadt for "Don't Know Much"; in 1989 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance with the Neville Brothers for "Healing Chant,"; in 1990 for Best Pop Duo with Linda Ronstadt for "All My Life"; and for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals with Trisha Yearwood for "I Fall to Pieces" in 1994. For two straight years in a row, Aaron was named Best Male Singer by Rolling Stone. Aaron has recorded a dozen solo albums ranging in genre from gospel to country, and he currently has experimented with jazz on his new album, Nature Boy.
